We Can Craft That

When a loved one passes more often than not we are left with small little memorabilia that remind us of them. Something like a cute little figurine they always had on a shelf or a vase or maybe even an inexpensive painting that had a lot of sentimental value. It doesn’t really matter what the item is it’s more about the fact that this item invokes memories of this person for you because it was something they loved.

Of course it’s natural to want to put that out in your home until you realize it has absolutely nothing to do with any of your decor. Then really again that’s fine because it makes you smile and think of the person you loved and miss.

We had a similar situation arise. One of us lost our father and he had an absolutely amazing collection of rat fink memorabilia. There’s a picture below to show you what rat fink looks like if you aren’t familiar.

Needless to say rat fink doesn’t really fit in with most modern decor especially if you’ve looked at previous items we’ve made in that department. Did that stop us? … Not even a little.

We used all of our creative brainstorming to come up with rat fink holiday outfits to match with the seasonal decorations. We are aware of how ridiculous it sounds to make little outfits for a ugly little rat guy but with every outfit we smiled and talked about Larry. We giggled and talked about what he would have thought of our insane little outfits. The rest of the family knows about it and gets an absolute kick out of seeing his new outfit changes and it brings a sweet happy way to talk about someone who we all love and miss so very much.

So with that being said here is this year’s holiday lineup for rat fink.

Will we make more outfits? …. More than likely.
Would Larry have loved all the outfits?…. He would appreciate our effort and love that we love it.
Has this become a great way to think about a man we all loved and still make sweet memories with him in our lives? …. Absolutely!

So when you think of that special little item that makes you think of someone that you loved so much and it’s so hard to get over the sadness, try to think of a way to incorporate it into your life to make you smile and remember the good.
