Happy Spring everyone! Here in California spring is one of the most beautiful times of the year, our weather is absolutely gorgeous. We try and spend as much time outside as possible. So, when we treated ourselves to a brand new patio furniture set we knew we would need to make some adorable decorations to go along with it. These wooden flag banners were the first project of many.

Step 1: Gather your supplies:
- Wood ( you could really use any size of wood depending on the size of flags your wanting) we used 2 fence boards.
- A saw ( we used a circular saw and a helpful husband for this)
- A pencil and a pair of scissors
- Paper for a stencil
- Paints and paint brushes ( we used acrylic)
- A sealer ( we used mod podge because our banners will be protected under an awning but if yours will be exposed to the elements you may want an exterior sealer)
- Eyelet screws ( we used 7x14mm because that’s what we had on hand)
- Rope or braided cord ( a 1/8 in thickness worked perfectly for the size eyelets we had)

Step 2: Create your triangle stencil. You can make this any size you’d like.

Step 3: Trace your triangles and cut them out. We enlisted a helpful husband for this. We also gave them a quick sand just so they were nice and smooth.

Step 4: Paint your triangles. We ended up doing two coats on all sides so that our colors were vibrant.

Step 5: Seal your triangles. We also did two coats of this and made sure they were completely dry before moving on to the next step.

Step 5: Attach your eyelet screws to the tops of your triangles. We used a drill and a small drill bit to create pilot holes but that’s optional. We find it just makes it a little bit easier to get the screws started.

Step 6: Lay out your pattern.
Step 7: String up your triangles. We used a white braided cord so that our banner was sturdy. We tied small knots on each eyelet so that each triangle stayed were we wanted it to.

Step 8: Hang up your banner and enjoy your handy work!

That’s it! Now your space looks like you are forever ready for a fun outdoor get-together! There are so many different variations of this that you could do. You could do them patterned like stripes or polka dots, or you could do them all different with butterflies and bumble bees. The possibilities are endless! Happy spring everyone!
