Rock and Roll Poster

Rock and Roll Poster

Hello to all you rockers out there! Our families are big supporters of our creativity. So, when the mood strikes us to create something they are often the recipients. We had gifted one of our fathers a hand drawn poster of all of his favorite rock and roll bands a few years back. When a different family member politely asked if we would recreate it and make him his very own poster we couldn’t refuse!

Step 1: Gather your supplies:

  • Banner paper of some sort ( we purchased ours at our local craft store)
  • A pencil and an eraser
  • Markers
  • Black Sharpies

Step 2: Pick your theme. We chose an array of rock and roll bands. But, you could really do any theme that you’d like. We’ve done other versions of this with cartoons and even horror movie characters. There are so many options!

Step 3: Draw a rough sketch of all your images with pencil. This helps you figure out where everything is going to go before anything is permanent.

Step 4: Go over everything with your fine tipped sharpie. This doesn’t have to be detailed. We like to add more detail later after it’s colored in.

Step 5: Erase your pencil lines. This step is tedious but in our opinion it’s necessary. Not only does it look better in the end but it also prevents the pencil from smearing when you go to color everything in.

Step 6: Now it’s time to color! You’ve basically created a large coloring book sheet for yourself. This is where things start to look awesome! The poster really starts to come to life once the vibrancy of the colors start to be added.

Step 7: Add any other details you’d like.

That’s it! Now you have a one of a kind poster that’s sure to the be the star of anyone’s empty wall. Have fun with it! The more you enjoy yourself the better it will come out in the end. Rock on everyone!
